t took Rachael less than 12 months to change her body shape, size, fitness levels, health, wellness and energy levels.
Rachael is studying medicine full time at University and works part-time.
What makes Rachel’s achievements so special is that she also suffers with Fibromyalgia.
Fibromyalgia symptoms are joint pain, particularly in the knees, hips and back and also very low energy levels.
We had to start very slow with Rach, building up her muscle strength and fitness in the gym, before she started running outside. We focused on strengthening her muscles in the legs, core and upper body so that her body could handle the impact of running. After 6 months of strength training, she began a running program and it took us 12 months to build her up to the 21.1km half marathon.
Last year she ran the Gold Coast 1/2 Marathon for the first time in 1.39 minutes. Now that is a pretty awesome time for a beginner!
Our patience paid off and we have managed to keep Rachael injury free, her energy at a good level and she is still getting faster with her running. I can’t wait to see what she does next year!
