There are 2 main types of exercise:
This is any activity that uses your heart and lungs and results in an increase in heart rate.
Activities include: running, cycling, skipping, boxing, swimming, walking, tennis, netball.
This type of activity burns calories, makes you fitter and helps you lose weight.
Each week, you should try to do 4-6 sessions of cardio for a minimum 30 minutes.
- Weight Training
This is any activity that uses your muscles.
Activities include: strength training in a gym, circuit training, powerlifting, TRX and any lifting of weights.
This type of activity creates lean muscle tissue, improves your muscle tone and helps you lose weight.
Each week, you should try to do 2-4 sessions of weights for a minimum of 30 minutes.
When both types of exercise are done weekly, they complement each other and results can be seen much quicker.
